AKT (Applied Knowledge Test)
The AKT is a computer‑based assessment mapped to the RCGP curriculum. Candidates are usually eligible from ST2 onwards; the exam tests clinical knowledge, evidence‑based practice and primary care organisation. Full guidance, dates and booking instructions are on the RCGP AKT pages linked below.

SCA (Simulated Consultation Assessment)
The SCA assesses consultation integration of clinical, professional and communication skills. It is normally taken in ST3 (eligibility and timing guidance on the RCGP SCA pages). Use the RCGP SCA toolkit and exemplar materials with your trainer for structured practice.

Booking, Reservations and FourteenFish
Book AKT and SCA via your MyRCGP account (My Exams). If you previously used FourteenFish for reservations or portfolio work, continue to use FourteenFish for portfolio recording where applicable, but manage exam bookings through MyRCGP. Preparation, Toolkits and Local Support
Recommended preparation strategy:
- Map study to the RCGP curriculum and use question banks for regular AKT practice.
- Use the RCGP SCA consultation toolkit and local mock SCA sessions for performance practice.
- Discuss readiness and booking timing with your Educational Supervisor before applying.
- Use VTS teaching sessions and local mock exams to simulate exam conditions and receive structured feedback.
