Taster Sessions

Taster sessions are designed to encourage FY2 Doctors to experience real life General Practice before considering applying for vocational training. We encourage FY2s who are interested in General Practice as a career but haven’t got GP as part of their rotation to participate in these taster sessions.

Generally, you will aim to spend a week in General Practice, but sometimes this can be less depending on how much study leave you have from your current post. You will be supernumerary during your taster session and will have the opportunity to observe consultations and true General Practice; you will not be seeing patients alone.  

The numbers for GP applications have declined over the past few years, so taster sessions resulting in positive experiences are very important to us!
